Hi, I'm Mathieu.
 

I'm a freelance photographer and visual journalist based in Portland, Oregon. As a passionately open minded and adventurous photog, I refuse to be pigeon-holed. I've spent time making pictures in photo pits at concerts, clouds of tear gas at protests and weddings on the beaches of Mexico, meadows in Oregon and boroughs of New York City. I've hiked glacial peaks, camped in the snow, been shot by rubber bullets and chased firefighting helicopters down endless forest roads in pursuit of that next great frame. 
 

Currently I am seeking out stories that impact society, nature, entertainment and politics. These endeavors, coupled with a little luck and help from some amazing colleagues have brought me the privilege of being able to shoot for international news wires such as Reuters, Getty Images and Agence France-Presse. Through theses avenues, my work has been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, CNN and multiple other national and international news organizations.

I am also a lead associate photographer with Timeless Tree Weddings and I always find myself happy to take a break from the journalism world to document stories of love.
 

Previously, I worked as a photographer for Eleven PDX Magazine where I shot a cover issue with Portugal. The Man and visually documented everything from local businesses to concerts and festivals, such as Pickathon and Treefort Music Festival. Other bands I've photographed include Pussy Riot, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Sharon Van Etten, Built to Spill, Yob, The Marias, Phil Lesh and many more.

I'm always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow from my work and I jump at the chance to be in communication with new people and explore new ideas.
